Gedanken zur Yoga Fortbildung in Italien

Just came back from an intensive 2 week yoga workshop in Italy with John Stirk. The diaphragm is the conductor of all the muscles in the body. When the diaphragm engages and pulls up on the exhale, all the muscles in the body should engage. The arches of the feet should lift, the spine should elongate, the neck lengthen. When we look at people who still live close with nature you will see that they have beautiful and upright postures, like the people from African tribes for example. In most of us westerners we have lost this inner engagement of the diaphragm and we collapse in the inner body. The pelvis, for example, has an inner lining (not the pelvic floor), which is collapsed in most of us. In the workshop we explored the lifting of the inner lining of the body walls with the help of John Stirks unique and creative teaching, which is not a technique but an exploration. Endless more can be said to the breathing work we did, calming the mind in a non-hypnotique way to release endorphins into the muscle tissues and opening the joints in a non-technical way etc.
